Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

    Adam:
    Guys,

We will publish the version 6.0 release candidate on Next Monday (March 23). I am very sorry for the delay and troubles.

Adam, now you even get your dates all mixed up. March 23rd is today a Friday!!!
I can only assume that the truth is out there, but right now I doupt that it lives under your roof.
"Now" means "now" not 4 days later.

I (and others)  have been more then patiant with CuteSoft, and I personaly am an older client. I have NEVER experienced a lack of communication or a service as BAD as this. And I live I a supposed 3rd world country.

You have been promessing but I have yet to see any delivery for 6 months, would you stand by it, I do not.
And the 5,190 viewers must think similarly. This thread must hold the record in viewing for a good reason...

Get you act together, maybe I might consider using your products again.

I will remind you that the competion, though arguably not yet as advenced as CuteSoft, is catching up and one of the new kid on the block (Component Art)  is releasing an editor shortly. They communicate and having been on their beta panel I should know.

I expect a mail with a link for the CuteEditor 6.0 IMEDITELY and without futher delays. And yes it's 20:20 GMT making it 15:20 in Ontario. You have no excuses.

    Hi Adam,

I am not trying to be cheaky. I am just pointing out to many fustrated people here that there are other products in the market as well. You have to imagine the situation of many developers who are waiting due to your promises. I am one of them who has suffered due to lack of 'true' communication on your behalf and has now finally purchased another product.

I understand the fustration. I am very sorry for the troubles. We are working hard on fixing it now.

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

    Hi Mr Adam,

        It's approaching 26th Mar07, or rather it's already 26th Mar07 at my time zone.

Hope you will keep your promise and deliver ver6.0. Whether it is a beta or live version (better still), please do launch it.

You are working very hard. Everyone is working very hard. The internet is working very hard too.

I will hate to see you delay the launch again.

        Thanks.

    regards,
    Bill Tang

    Guys,

Here is the CE 6.0 online demo:

Please note that this example is IE only right now.

We will finish the rest as fast as we can.

Brilliant...it's good to see something.  So is there a list about what's changed and what's new?  Also - what's left to do?

    Thanks, Paul

    Adam,

I am tempted to say that this is a bad joke on us but that would be inappropriate considering the time in Ontario.
So I just going to say that if I can not test it in my environment and if it only works in IE what's the use of a demo.
Additionally, most of us need AJAX integration, but there are no DEMO's of that. It looks like a lot of bug fixes from 5.3.

Maybe a list of bug fixes and new functionality would be a major plus.
However I do not agree with billtang at all.

Only a release, beta would do for today.
Or don't you trust your users to help you debug and improve your product?

I will remind you of this statement of the 22 of March 2007:
    Adam:
We are working very hard on the version 6.0. Right now we are finishing this project, cutting some features and make sure we can have a download version on next Monday.

By the way, has AJAX been cut?

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

I agree. This was a BIG dissapointment. The only thing i can see that is new is a more advanced tag selector. I was hoping for a  new and nicer user interface on all popups.

    Bye bye CuteEditor.

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

I also must agree that online demo is not what everybody expected, most of us want to try it and see how it is integrates in our products.
We understand it might have bugs we all developers here so you could release a beta version so we could download.
I think most of us being very very patient but I think a lot of us looking for alternative this days, due to luck of communication and support. I personally showed this thread to my manager and now have a green light to look for an alternative as well.
I don't know how you, CuteSoft, planning to stay in business with false promises and leaving customers.

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

    Adam,

Can you please explain to us, developers as developer, why its so hard to zip current version that you have right now, including bugs, stamp it, called beta version and release to everyone?

The only possible explanation I can think of is that there is nothing to zip or to put into package.
I know it can be done in 10 minutes, and you could repeat this process every Monday or any other Monday for example, I know that this way there will be a lot of satisfied customers.

I'll go with that, brilliant idea olegkap, but I am afraid that your suspicion maybe right, there might be nothing to zip...

Adam, let us be serious for once, will you or will you not release either a beta or final version before the end of the month?
As solution provider with an enterprise licence, we use your product in every site we build. We have been happy until September of last year. Now we would be happy with "5.3" fixed and idealy Microsoft AJAX Framework complience and obviously cross browser compatibility.

I do not know what the others think but that would be enough for me for now.

As a Senior it is my responsibility to make a call, I need to know from you what I can and can not expect in the immediate and far future.

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

    Adam,

    on the test link:

I selected the text in the first sentence, then changed the size to 24.
I then selected 1 word "Algorithmic" and clicked on the red font color.

The word shrunk down to the previous size, this is what I thought was going to be fixed? Its very anoying to colorize parts of text when it changes the size.

please tell me the fix is still in the works?

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

So I'm looking around the net for a rich text editor and I think cutesoft is really cool. Then I stumble across this thread...

Can someone summarize what's been going on since late last year? What changed?
  •  03-26-2007, 12:38 PM 27746 in reply to 27745

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

Cor that's a bit worrying, there do seem to be a couple bugs that haven't been fixed - like that one with coloured text doesn't resize, seems a bit fundamental!  This thing's never getting released is it...

Anyway, Yelnoc - thought I'd respond and summarize this thread cos it's quite mad.  Basically, there were a few bugs it would seem in version 5.3.  Version 6.0 was scheduled as a planned release back in October (I think), which it wasn't.  So it was then promised for November, December, January, February, then first week in March, then the following monday, then it was promised for today (Monday 26th) but a demo appeared in which is potentially turns out that no one can actually tell what's changed...so everyone's a bit stumped and a bit hacked off with empty promises and no delivery.

Worst of all, while this has been going on, there have been no fixes to version 5.3 as the fixes have been promised in v6.0...

...so all in all, it's a complete mess, everyone's hacked off beyond belief, people are jumping ship left, right and centre and finding other products to use, but no one's actually finding other products because this is possibly the best one...ohh the madness!!!

Oh, correct me if I'm wrong at all anyone.

Re: When version 6.0 becomes availble?

    MrPea,

This is correct, I even think that someone mentioned they promised an update as early as September.
I personally looking into ComponentArt. They didnt release Editor yet but it said it will be available (Beta) in mid April 2007 and release in mid May 2007 (ComponentArt road Map).
So far they did an a great job in all other controls and also stick to the schedule so my guess is ComponentArt will release they editor before CuteSoft will release a Beta.
