I think the PDF icon used for DownloadableFiles should be replaced by an icon that doesn't represent a specific filetype. My suggestion is :  (This icon can be used freely by anyone)   Regards, Thomas

You could parse the text, looking for <img> tags. then get the src attribute. This can be done using DOM or string methods. This method will not track the uploads,but the actual usage of the images.
