whenever images are modified by cute editor and I try to open them through photoshop, I get "could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found."

What is this and how can I get around it?

Also, images that have been edited in cute editor (rotated, cropped) are horribly unoptimized...the uploaded file weighs in at 67k, (640x480) while the cropped image (390x350) weighs in at a whopping 390k...I am assuming both are using the same algorithm to take them down from the 4mpixel (before uploading) file...but why is the other manipulated image so unoptimized?

I had a similar problem with a resize script I made. The problem was that I did'nt specify filetype for the resized image. The image was then saved as PNG (which increased the filesize), and since the filename was .jpg photoshop would'nt edit the image. Try to rename to .png and then open in photoshop.
