I have just deployed an application in a live environment and are experiencing the following client side error:

Error 'undefined' is null or not an object

 

I am getting this error when I click on the Normal, HTML and preview buttons on the http://localhost/NavSysComNew/CuteEditor_Files/default.asp page as well as the pages where I have the editor. 

 

Hopefully I have forgotten to do something while transfering the pages.  The exact same set of pages are working on my laptop, the spell checker is working great, the editor tools are working great.  While my pages are behaving like this I can not get the posted value the editor holds.  This has me stumpted big time, I will greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

Sure, it is exactly as it got unzipped:

My bin dir (spell checker working like a charm):

I zipped the whole site and copied it onto another machine (live server) the structure is the same. I am in defence environment, we do not have USB's or CD's I zipped the site and then split the zipped file then joined it back together (transfered all files by floppy) would this have an effect?

Mate everthing is working so nice on my laptop, its a mirror image on the server

 

Are you sure the following path is correct?

If this path is in correct the page will not render (include file not found).  The path I an using is correct, the page renders error free, the editor shows as it should, all the editor tools work as they should, the spell (NetSpell) works like a wet dream.  Mate we are so close to getting this system (a briefing system for the Australian Defence force) past the dev phase into a preliminary live environment its not funny, they love it in its dev environment (XP stand alone)!!!

 

I have it working great on my XP pro machine (classic ASP app) They have all but signed off on it.  My self and my company (www.framegroup.com.au) will be out of flavour if I can not resolve this issue asap.  The benefits to your product will be massive if this editor gets the green flag.  The reason yours will get the nod - NO client side dependencies what so ever.  They have a strict NT workstation SOE and a strict 2000 Server (the intended live environment where I a having trouble) SOE all other products I have tested need text files on the client or to execute some .exe to get a spell checker working. 

 

This morning I went direct to the box and got clearence to copy the files directly, the problem still exists.  What I was mentioning in my previous post about spliting the files and sweing them back to gether please dis regard.

 

 

BTW : When I click the Preview or HTML buttons not only do I get the error talked about above, the mode does not change.  I can not view the HTML at all.  Also when I submit the page, no data is found in the editor form variable.  No matter what I type inside the editor an empty string gets posted.  As I said this is happening in your test editors also.

 

Whats the chances I can call you.  We will pay for your time, where are you in the world.  If this gets fixed you will sell many instances, they will probably purchase the source code and enter into an open agreement.

Ok I have just tested it directly on the server, it works as it should IE (6.0 standard server SOE).

 

When I am using an NT workstation (IE 5.5 and the standard SOE around Australia) it fails.  Oh no this is bad, has your product been tested for IE 5.5 - Mate, what can I do?

Can you tell me your IE 5.5 whole version number?

If it's a bug, we will fix it as soon as possible.

There is a minor version will be released soon.

 

This minor version will fix all the exisitng bugs.

 

After this release, we will focus on the version 5.0.

I have downloaded your version 4.2 you said the IE 5.5 SP2 thing was fixed, it is not.  There is no difference, the problem remains:

I must speak to your management regarding the mis representation of your product and non conformance.  I have asked you several times, you refuse to give it.  Your editor fails in an environment you claim it works.
