Can't Get Trial Version Static HTML Example to Work

I installed the trial version of the editor on my localhost, and the static html example runs, but it won't load the static html page into the editor pane. I checked permissions and the existence of the cuteeditor_files directory...all seems fine. I don't get an error or anything, I just don't see the html loading into the editor.

I did not change the sample code.

Ideas?

Chad,

In the Edithtml.aspx page, you have the following code:

void Page_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e)

{

........

Editor1.LoadHtml("document.html");

.........

}

</script>

Are you sure the document.html exists?

Yes, it exists (it's the same file from your zip archive)...I've tried moving it to different folders, or leaving it in the main web application folder...nothing. If the editor can't find the file, shouldn't I get an error? I don't get anything but a blank editor pane. No error.

Chad,

If the editor can't find the file, it will show a blank editor pane.

I still don't think the static html file exists.

Can you change the file URL and using absolute path like the followings code:

Editor1.LoadHtml("/root/yourwebapplication/document.html ");

You don't believe me? I just sent you a screenshot. The file is there, sitting in my web app root.

I don't quite understand why I would need to change the path like you mentioned. My application is running at http://localhost/TestMe/edithtml_vb.aspx. Making a call to "document.html" should load the file from the app root, which is where the file is...am I missing something?

Can't figure out why it can't find the file.....

I recopied the file from the original folder again, and now it loads the html. the file must have been corrupted somehow.

Now I have a new problem, though. None of the editor buttons work and I can't type anything in the editor window. Again, no error, just nothing I do seems to have any effect on the content.

I spoke too soon. The file was showing in the editor for a few minutes, now it is not. I tried to copy the original back over again but it's still not showing up. This is crazy.

Chad,

I guess we are having some configuration problems. Let's start from scratch.

Fetch the CuteEditor. zip file from Download tab. Unzip the file in the any folder.

Open your Internet Information Services Manager and create a new virtual directories and point it to the ASP.NETv1.1 folder or ASP.NETv1.0.

Direct your web browser to http://localhost/ yourwebapplication1 /index.htm

Click the edit static example.

Ok, I did as you suggested...The index page comes up, I click the example for editing static html. It loads the sample page into the editor, but I can't edit it or type anything. Then the next time I load the page, the editor is blank.

So, basically, same deal. I am running this on XP Pro, BTW.
