How do you integrate DotNetGallery w/DotNetNuke?

I am wanting to integrate DotNetGallery w/DotNetNuke. Currently I am using DotNetNuke 2.1.2 but will be moving up to 3.x when the stable version is complete. How do you integrate these two?

DotNetNuke Integration steps:

1. Download the DotNetGallery for DNN module from:

Http://cutesoft.net/download/galleryfordnn_module.zip

3. Copy the dotnetgallery.lic and dotnetgallery.dll to your dotnetnuke bin folder.

4. Copy the dotnetgallery_files folder to to your dotnetnuke root folder

5. Create a folder in your DesktopModules and name it to dotnetgallery

6. Login as host and add the new module though the DotNetNuke.

Thanks for the info. I will try this on 2.1.2 when I get home. I tried these instructions on DotNetNuke 3.0.10 and it doesn't work. I get an error message in DotNetNuke while importing the Module. Do you have any plans on upgrading DotNetNuke installation files for DotNetGallery?

When the DoNetNuke 3.0 is stable, we will publish the solution for the DotNetNuke 3.0.

I tried what you said and I get the following when I add the new module through DotNetNuke:

Custom Module Upload Logs

File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DotNetGallery.dll

3. Have you copied the dotnetgallery.lic and dotnetgallery.dll to your dotnetnuke bin folder??

yes, they are in the C:\dotnetnuke2\bin folder.

The DotNetGallery.dll needs to be in the galleryfordnn_module.zip file. I added it and now I don't get the above error message and it seems to have installed correctly.

Now the problem that I am having is that I get this error in DotNetNuke 2.1.2 after I add the module to a page.

A critical error has occurred.
The file couldn't be accessed. This may be a security problem.

DotNetGallery doesn't seem to work with DotNetNuke 2.1.2.

If anyone has gotten it to work, please let me know.

Yes, it does work with DNN 2.1.2.

It is the error that I posted in my last post.

A critical error has occurred.
The file couldn't be accessed. This may be a security problem.

I get it whether I am logged in as Admin or Host.

I am trying to do the integration on v2 as well.

After working through several errors in running the dotnuke upload process I am down to this error that I can't seem to get past. Any ideas? This of course comes after all the other sucesses.

Hi,

Sorry for the late response.

Here is the new instruction:

How to Integrate DotNetGallery with DotNetNuke Portal V 1.0 - 2.x .

1. Download DotNetGallery(DotNetgallery.zip) from http://cutesoft.net/Downloads/default.aspx

2. Download DotNetGallery Wraper for DotNetNuke12 (DotNetNuke12.GalleryWraper.zip) from http://cutesoft.net/Downloads/default.aspx

3. Unzip the DotNetGallery.zip file

4. Unzip the DotNetNuke12.GalleryWraper.zip file

5. dotnetgallery\DotNetGallery_Files folder and all file it contains should be deployed to DNN_FOLDER\.

dotnetgallery\bin folder and all file it contains should be deployed to DNN_FOLDER\.

6. Open the DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\dotnetgallerymodule.ascx file, specify the image gallery path by modifying the FolderPath property.

7. DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\dotnetgallerymodule.ascx should be deployed to DNN_FOLDER\DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\.

8. Add new module definition

a. Log into your portal using the Host Admin account. From the 'Host' menu, select the 'Module Definitions' menu item.

b. Fill in Module Name and Description, then click Update.

c. The form should now be extended allowing you to add definitions.

Enter Gallery as New Definition and click Add Definition to continue.

The form should extend further, so click Add Control to continue.

d. From Source you should be able to select a control named DesktopModules\dotnetgallery\dotnetgallerymodule.ascx.

Select View as Type, and click Update to add the control.

f. Now you should be finished, and should be ready to add the DotNetGallery to any tab you want.

Please note that:

If the Image gallery path is not specified correctly, you will get the following error::

A critical error has occurred.

The file couldn't be accessed. This may be a security problem.

I thinnk 3.0 is stable now, can you please post instructions how to integrate it.

Also, does this handle file types other than images (e.g. an avi, mpg or wmv?)

No. Image gallery only support image file types.
