I find I have to save a record twice and hit refresh once to create the absolute link to a document.

 

Here's what's happening:

 

Using the CE 6 I create a "bulletin" with links to documents.

Click save. If I look at the source code of the saved "bulletin" the urls to the documents are all relative, the path is slike this "/documents/document.pdf"

 

If open the bulletin and resave, refresh the display page and view source,  the url is absolute http://mycompany/documents/docuement.pdf

 

I'm not a programmer, so I don't know if this is a characteristic of the CE or the programming on the page.

 

Should I have to save the record twice to create the absolute path?

No.

 

You have to ask your developers change the editor setting and set URLType property to "Absolute".

 

Still haven't been able to solve this. This is the configuration we're using:

I  just found that if I create a link to a PDF, then switch to HTML View and back to Normal view the URL changes from relative to absolute. 

 

But if I don't switch between views and just save, the URL remains relative until I save it a second time.

 

Very odd. Any ideas on what we may have messed up on the setup?

Please try the following example and set URLType property to "Absolute":

What the test proves is that the URL can be created as Absolute without having to switch between Normal and HTML views.

 

What I need to know is this. Is there something in our <ce:Editor... > tag that makes it so we have to switch? Is there a conflict in the tag?

 

I notice we have URLType = "Absolute" and UseRelativeLinks="False"   It seems that if you have URLType = "Absolute", then UseRelativeLinks="False" would not be needed.

UseRelativeLinks="False" is not needed any more.

 

All you need to do is setting URLType = "Absolute".

 

You don't need to switch the view to make it happen.

 

Cute Editor will automatically change URL when you extract the conten from it.

Notice that the URLType IS set to Absolute and the link is NOT saved as Absolute UNTIL you save it twice or change the view from Norml to HTML. THAT'S the problem. The link has to be created as Absolute from the moment is created... I should not have to save twice.

 

I know it works on your system... its doesn't work properly on mine. I'm trying to figure out where the problem is so I can fix it.

The online demo is running version 6.3.

 

Which version of Cute Editor are you using?

 

Can you download the version 6.3 and create a separate application for testing?

We're running 6.0.0.0
