when I use the Save command in Netscape it doesn't like it. I was thinking I could put a browser detection in the save() function in winIE.js so that if it is netscape it doesn't do anything, but changing the function seems to make no difference.

sorry didn;t really explaing myself very well. I am doing a form check onsubmit:

 

function addTopic()
{
 var frm = document.frmAddTopic;
 
  save(Editor1);

 if(frm.name.value=='')
 {
  alert("Please add a SUBJECT");
  frm.name.focus();
  return false;    
 }

 

</script>

 

works fine with I.E. but Netscape just goes to the next page regardless of whether the name field is filled in , whereas if I add this piece of code: 

var browserName=navigator.appName;
 if (browserName=="Microsoft Internet Explorer")

both work fine. Now I could add this code everytime I use the editor but was thinking there must be a central function I could add in to stop this from happening?

Try change the following code:

var frm = document.frmAddTopic;

to:

var frm = document.forms.frmAddTopic;

Tried that and has no effect. If I remove the save(Editor) function on Netscape it works fine. Is this because the WinIE.js file is only included if it is IE and thus if you are in netscape the function save does not exist therefor it errors.
