Deployment problem assigning path

I love the editor and am excited to get it working on my server.

I have multiple sites and i do not want to duplicate all the scripts and graphics for each site

i have created a folder called CuteSoft_Client one level below my web site

i have added the dlls to the bin folder in the web site

i have added the CuteEditorDefaultFilesPath" value="~/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor" to the web.config

and i am getting the error "Could not find a part of the path 'E:\web\users\cmslite\CuteSoft_Client\CuteEditor\Configuration\Shared'.

where \cmslite is the root folder of my web site

any ideas?

Are you sure this path is correct?

'E:\web\users\cmslite\CuteSoft_Client\CuteEditor\Configuration\Shared'.

no .. i have located the files in a folder below the web site root folder .. i am trying to make these files available to all my web sites

is my web.config setting wrong?

the files are at 'E:\web\users\CuteSoft_Client\CuteEditor\Configuration\Shared'

abd the root for the web site is

E:\web\users\cmslite

The above path is wrong.

Please copy CuteSoft_Client to E:\web\users\cmslite folder.

sorry

i don't think i was clear with my request

i am purchasing an IP license on an IIS server with multiple web sites

i want to install the dlls and the support files in one place and reference them from the individual web sites

i was just reading about the Global Assembly Cache setup

maybe this is the best for my needs

if i was to try this method where should the DLL be located

and where should the support files be located

If you add the above entry into your web.config, you should copy CuteSoft_Client folder into the following folder.

E:\web\users\cmslite

This is correct.

E:\web\users\cmslite\CuteSoft_Client\

This is wrong:

E:\web\users\CuteSoft_Client\

If you add CuteEditor.dll into GAC, it will be shared by all applications on the machine.

Hi Adam

By the way - we showed the editor to our clients and they all want it. We have been using Freetextbox for years now and they cannot wait to upgrade their web sites, They really like the MAC support, templates, overall loading speed, the image upload and resizing and the doument upload with the automatic link generation. Nice work, we tested it last night on Safari, Chrome and Explorer and were really impressed.

we have got the editor working fine for one web site, with the folders in the standard locations

we have placed the dlls in each web sites BIN FOLDER

and we have placed the Support Files in each web sites CuteSoft_Client folder

now we want to locate the Support files in a location where they can be shared by all the web sites

we do not want to duplicate all the themes, images and styles for each site

can we place these folders above the root level of the web sites and just keep one copy for all the sites?

We are on a Windows 2003 IIS 6 server - framework 2.0

Yes.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Copy the files under CuteEditor to the target directory (for example: C://MyEditor).

2. Map the directory in IIS as a virtual directory only (not application).

3. Add the following entry into your web.config.

that is the logic i am using

i created a folder using FTP and uploaded all the files

in the IIS i added a virtual directory for the web site in question .. using the virtual directory wizard

i am able to view the theme icons (one at a time) using my browser, so i know the vitrual directory is working

this is the editor i am seeing

note: i can view this graphic - from the virtual directory

any ideas

i printed some of the source code

this is the content from my CMS - it is getting to the editor but it is not displaying properly

Please create a bin folder under this virtual directory then copy the CuteEditor.dll into this folder.

sorry to keep bugging you about this .. but it is critical to the deployment

from the source code of the editor .aspx page

it is finding the load.ashx file but not finding the theme graphics

Please follow the steps below:

Step 3. Add the following entry into your web.config.

Please create a new application to test this issue and follow every steps above.

It should resolve the problems.

Hi Adam .. thanks for the quick responses

i have followed your instructions and it is still not working

the image shows the IIS settings and the virtual directory, the bin file contents at the local web level and web.config

could it be an issue with permissions

Ok.

Use this setting and make sure the editor path is correct.

This virtual directory should not be created under the root of your site. It should be created under the root of the current application.
