If you delete everything using the normal view in the editor then type in some text, wait a short while then the editor adds a  <p>   </p> tag round the text in IE and adds a <br /> in firefox.

 

Is this by design?

 

Steps to repro on your demo page. http://cutesoft.net/example/general.aspx

 

1. Using only Normal view delete the table and any text, ensure everything is deleted.

2. Type in This is some text.

3. Now just wait a wee while, then magically you can see a p tag has appeared!

 

This is most annoying because sometimes the editor is popped up to allow the users to edit a line of text as part of a template wizard, and having extra P or br tags being added throws out the text.

 

Hope you can stop it!

This is the browser behavior.

When you start editing, <P> or <div> tags will be inserted automatically by IE. The content is wrapped in the block level element.
