V6 IE5.5 Automation server cannot create object

Have been testing the new version much nicer.... However I have an issue.

40% of our customers are in a locked network using IE5.5 with Activex ctrls disabled="disabled".

When I try the new version i get the following error

Line: 4

Char: 2958

Error: Automation server cant create object.

I am guessing this could be something ajaxxy which doesnt work on this network because all activex ctrls are disabled="disabled" which includes HTTPXML object or whatever its called. If it is the new Ajax support causing the issue can it be disabled="disabled"? Or is this a bug fix needed?

Hmm there might be another bug, see post before I only typed disabled="disabled" once!!!

I certainly didnt type disabled="disabled"="disabled="disabled""

Which is fixed the "cannot create object" error or the deleted error. I am more concerned about the "cannot create error" as it will stop 40% of our users using the editor.

Hopefully its the object error, if so I cannot get it to work still....

Is that latest build in the download of 17 apr 2007?

If it is then it still doesnt work, and the demo on your site doesnt work either.

Just tested this on the latest build 23 apr. Its still giving an error about not being able to create an object.

Version5.3 works fine on this system, I was hoping V6 would too. Are you able to fix this?

Hi Adam

Do you not like answering awkward questions?

Any chance you can say whether this will be fixed?

If not do you know of a way we can run 5.3 and 6 side by side?

Basically 40% of my customers will not be able to use V6 and it seems unfair to penalise the other 60% a chance of using a superior editor.....

Andy,

In version 6.0, to improving the load speed, we use ajax to load files.

For IE 5.5, we need to use the following code to create XMLHTTP Request:

new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP")

If you disable the ActiveX, this will cause the problems you mentioned.

We are looking for a solution right now.

I realise you are busy with other fixes, but will this problem be fixed?

Or do I have to start investigating how to run two versions of your editor?

If so any ideas on how i can run two different versions in the same web space?

Its a shame really because we chose this editor as it did not use any activeX ctrls. Due to the fact they are disabled on some of our networks.

Definately one step closer. I do not get the error any more but then neither do i get the toolbar. All i get is a square box with the normal, html, preview buttons. When I click on those then i get an error

Object doesnt support this property or method.

Interestingly when I disabled all activex in IE7 i get the same error. However when I do a page refresh it seems to work. So maybe something is being downloaded and not run the first time round, but is then run from the cache? I know IE5.5 is not very good at caching dynamic things compared to IE7.

Hope you can solve this, as it will make my users very happy.

Ooooooooo getting closer.

There are no errors reported at all, but still no toolbar or text.

However if I click on the none radio button so that it doesnt show a toolbar, the editor works fine. The HTML all appears and is rendered, you can change the HTML in both views and you can submit it all OK.

So my guess is that there is something in the toolbar render bit that IE5.5 doesnt like, I cannot recreate the problem in IE7 any more.

Just retested and unfortunately there are still problems sorry.

The first one is that the toolbar does not show which also seems to stop the text appearing.

When selecting the none option the text appears fine and the editor works OK.
I can switch between views and the tags at the bottom appear. However when i clicked on it all the menus had [[....]] surrounding each item. I can live with this as they all seemed to work, except for when i clicked table properties and then general , the attached javascript error appeared.

Sorry to be a pain.......

This is my weekly call to see if the toolbar and error mentioned before are fixed on IE5.5.

Do you think this will ever work on IE5.5 properly or should I start coding a side by side thingy to run both versions?

I don't understand why you have this issue. It works perferctly here.

Please send me detailed screenshots showing the security setting of your browser.
