    NetSpell not working on IIS6

Has anyone got NetSpell to work on IIS6 ?  I can't even get the Netspell demo to work from the www.loresoft.com website.  All I get is Page Not Found.
    Thanks, Brian

    Check this example:

The above example is running on IIS 6.0 as well.

Re: NetSpell not working on IIS6

    Hi Adam,
I have the Editor working fine.  It's just NetSpell that fails.  I have tried about everything I know of including changing security settings.  I have other .Net pluggins working (Dynamic PDF Active X) so I can't understand why the Netspell dll won't work.
    Thanks, Brian

Re: NetSpell not working on IIS6

    Yes net spell works fine.

    You must have .Net installed

You need the following files sto be deployed in the \bin directory for the web application that uses the CuteEditor. You need to place them in the \bin folder in the root directory of your web application.

    • NetSpell.SpellChecker.dll
    • en-US.dic

Re: NetSpell not working on IIS6

OK, I got it working.  When the documentation mentions .Net must be installed I took it as the .Net framework.  Looks like ASP.NET must be installed.

Re: NetSpell not working on IIS6

Could somebody please clarify (I am a classic ASP coder)

What is the difference between the framework and asp.net?
previous versions of IIS only required the framework, what has changed?
Is there any other dependencies for the server side spell checker to work using IIS 6.0?

FYI: If I use the spell checker on this post and there are no spelling I get a client side JS error.  Yes my browser (IE 6.0 SP2) is set to show every script error.  This prompt came up once and I could not replicate it by executing another spell check.  I clicked the error away expecting it to come back - Sorry I should have taken a screen shot.  Interestingly enough I can not replicate the error.

Re: NetSpell not working on IIS6

FYI.. One of the things I discovered is the spellcheck requires that the directory you are running from be listed as an 'APPLICATION' in IIS, which fixes most of the problems with the spellchecker once the .NET framework is installed.

You should not need ASP.NET, just the framework and make sure your site pages are in a directory that is listed as an application in IIS; the spellchecker should work fine.

I believe this has to do with the path where .NET looks for the \bin folder...

Re: NetSpell not working on IIS6

;;;listed as an 'APPLICATION' in IIS
Do you mean a virtual directory?

;;;which fixes most of the problems with the spellchecker once the .NET framework is installed
Which ones does it not fix

    My question remains:
Wht is the difference between the .Net framework and ASP.NET?

Well this post brings back some memories.  I used to think Adam was a machine, he seems to answer almost every post however seemed to simply gives up on myn.  You left so many questions un answered, failed to read my posts properly and are afraid to say 'I don't know'

I hope you guys have more resources now.  The potential was there to have your editor mandated inside the Australian Defense forces Restricted Network, this I told you.  You were helpful up until a point however looking at the big picture you gave up - this is why your editor we purchased has been removed from the network.  I will not be cheeky enough to say which one we are using, its not as a good as yours functionality however they replicated my environment like I asked you to do, which you said you did - You did not, this is evident in several posts on this forum and is supported by your threat to remove my posts.
