Getting the inner html of the selection

Is it possible to get the innerHTML of the selection

This works fine

var editselection=editor1.GetSelection();

But I could do with getting the html so I can access the formatting

Grant,

After you get the selection, you can get the html code.

Example:

var sel = editor1.GetSelection();

var r=sel.createRange();

html=r.htmlText;

I tried that

   var sel=editor1.GetSelection();
   alert(sel);
   var r=sel.createRange().text;
    html=r.htmlText;
    alert(html);

But firefox says that - sel.createRange is not a function - IE works OK. I wonder if FireFox doesn't support range on a selection

Yes, the above code example only works for IE. For firefox you need to write different code to get HTML code from the current selection.

For example:

var sel=editor1.getSelection();
  if(sel.rangeCount > 0)
  {
   var r=sel.getRangeAt(0);
   var clonedSelection = r.cloneContents();
   var div = document.createElement('div');
   div.appendChild(clonedSelection);
  // r.collapse(true);
   return div.innerHTML;
  }
  else
   return "";

Excellent. Thanks. Just had to change getselection to getSelection (capital S), thanks
