IP Address Allow/Deny

I have been trying to get the IP Address allow/deny to work. So far I entered all of the addresses I want to work in the Chat Admin section. Then I tried to log in from a different IP address. I was able to successfully log in. So I figured I must have to deny everyone else so added a deny ip address of *. This denied everyone regardless of whether I set the priority higher or lower than the IP addresses I wanted to have access.

Any help would be appreciated.

Which version of Cute Chat are you using? 2.1, 3.0 or 3.1?

I downloaded the eval copy yesterday and when I check the properties of the CuteSoft.Chat.dll it says 3.1.0

I just made another test. This feature works as expected.

When the user with the deny IP join the chat, the user show receive the following message:

"The connection to the chat server is lost. IPAddress is denied."

Are you sure you type the IP address correctly? Can you make sure you set that IP status to "deny" instead of "allow"?

Sorry, I think you are misunderstanding my issue. I want to put the chat on the internet, but I only want to allow users from 5 static ip address to have access. I want to deny any other IP address from access.

Is this possible, if so how do I set that up in the configuration.

Try the following solution:

For example, you want only 192.168.0.100, 192.168.0.101 can access your site:

You need to have the following configuration:

Bad Word List:

Expression	Priority	Operate
!192.168.0.101	1	Allow	Update	Delete
!192.168.0.100	1	Allow	Update	Delete
*	2	Deny	Update	Delete

Adam,

Thanks for your effort with trying to help, but after following your instructions I am still having an issue. It looks like everyone can still log in. I tried just about every configuration I can think of but still nothing is working correctly. Here is a screen shot of my setup. Please let me know if I can provide any other information

Adam,

Thanks for hanging in there with me. Obviously, this was not that difficult. I think my main problem is that while testing I wasn't logging out and logging back in after I made changes to the IP lists.
