    Which do I download?

I'm pretty new to all of this and was wondering which trial I should download?  I was told by my host that I am on a .NET server...now I just need to know the difference between a Core Download -vs- Legacy Download.....and the difference between the standalone chat/messenger and the community server?

    selliott,

Please try download the standalone first.

CuteSoft's products can be integrated seamlessly with the Microsoft® IBuySpy Portal sample,  DotNetNuke, Rainbow portal, community server or your own .NET applications.

If you are not using the above projects, you can just download the standalone project.

    Re: Which do I download?

I don't really know anything about .net.  All I'm trying to do is put a chat program on my website.  I have downloaded this one, but it isn't working.  I've followed what instructions are available...but it still isn't working.  I've been waiting in the live support chat for over an hour now.  My host uses a .net server...I just want a chat program...which should I download?

Like I said above, I downloaded the standalone version, extracted the zip folder, had the host run the sql scripts, had the host create a virtual directory that pointed to /chat2/ and uploaded the files from the "Web" folder to a folder named "chat2" in the root directory (/chat2/).  Then I adjusted the web.config file to match my database connection strings...but it still doesn't work.

One thing I noticed is, when I extracted the zip folder, I got an error at the end that said "file skipped unknown compression method".  I'm not sure which file was skipped, but maybe that's part of the problem????

You guys may want to consider paying someone to produce some good installation instructions, because these were VERY vague, and seemed to leave out way too many details...especially for people who want to upload it via FTP.

Turns out the files that aren't being extracted may be the .lic files.  They are in the zip folder, but don't appear in the extracted folder.

    Re: Which do I download?

Here's an update for everyone.  I finally got the chat program to work.  One thing I didn't notice, and wasn't told to check out, was the help file.  I recommend anyone having problems to read the help file instructions AND the .html page instructions provided in the documents folder (because they aren't the same).  I also ended up downloading the .net framework to my computer from microsoft's website, so I could execute the .exe file in the tools folder.  I was told by support that it wasn't necessary...but I went ahead and did it anyway, just in case.  Also....this is most likely the biggest problem I had.  I didn't know the virtual directory HAD to be named "SamplePortal\Web" until I found the help file.  Once I started over and reloaded everything and had my host correct the virtual directory, it started running.

Also, an FYI.  I had trouble getting the zip folder to unzip all of the files in the folder.  It wouldn't unzip the .lic files.  But after I downloaded a trial version of winzip, it worked...so I guess the zip program that comes with XP just isn't good enough.
