I figured out how to make it go away. In layout.js file in the Skins/[skin name] folder add this line into line 22      trtop.style.display='none'; Since I'm using version 2 I'm not sure if it's the same and offcourse this shouldn't be the way to do it, but until this is configurable this is the way. I had the same problem, but then I saw that I had disabled private chat globally, so maybe you should check that. A bug when using IE still allowed me to create a private chat, if I double click the user a private chat window popped up and the invite message was sent to the user.
