But I don't want to use the upload button, because then I can not programatically insert images into the gallery. What is the use of a simple file based gallery if you have to have a person manually upload images?  I would be satisfied to be able to manually call the generate thumbnail routines on the object from my C# code.

OK I solved my problem. DOCUMENT_ROOT is null in my server environmebt So I replaced it with upc_rootdir which is pointing to my app root.

I continue to get this error as well. And it appears to have no relationship to file size. The only way I can consistently reproduce the error is when the page the upload control is located on is accessed from a Response.Redirect(''pagewithcontrol.aspx'').   If I ask the page through a traditional HTML link, the error is not thrown. ...
