RichP714:
I sorted it; just use style="display:none" on parts of insertimage.aspx
This 'problem' is back ,and the only solution seems to be to create another upload folder once the number of images reaches a certain threshold.
I don't want to end up with /uploadimg, /uploadimg2, /uploadimg3, etc folders.
My original 'style="display:none' on the insertimage.aspx file to hide the folder list doesn't seem to have fixed this issue (after the folder has a few thousand images, load performance of the insert image pop up is sluggish)
Is there another way to relieve CE of having to deal with large folders OTHER than display:none?
