If the documents folder contains a few Word documents, CSS files or Excel files, the Downloadable files dialog takes far too long to open.
This appears to be caused by the dialog inserting the contents of certain files (pdf,doc,xls and probably others) into the source of the page so they can be previewed. This is obviously a bad idea for a few reasons.
- Word documents/Excel are binary and the dialog displays meaningless characters to the user which makes them thing the document is corrupt. See image at bottom.
- The dliaog takes longer to load with every additional upload.
- Additional server resources are consumed while the dialog builds a page which ends up being the size of all documents combined + the html of the page.
If the folder contains say 300 MB of word documents, every time you attempt to insert a link to a document the dialog downloads over 300 MB.
How can I configure the file types the dialog will preview - or can Cutesoft release a fix to this problem? Earlier version do not have this problem.
