Copying and pasting HTML in HTML mode works just fine.

 

However, if you copy some text which also includes a picture in the normal view, and then paste it back in, the image source is converted to an absolute address.

 

While the second copy of the image is still visible, the source for the image has http:// etc in it, rather than the ~ character, as was in the code.

 

Do you consider this a bug?  I can see that you could view it as a non-bug, but it does cause me serious issues (I will not bore you with why unless you really really want to know).  If you see it as a non-bug, is there a work-around you can suggest?
