"If I load the editor in html mode..."

How do you specify that the editor  should load in HTML mode instead of Normal mode?

(I would like to do this. I've been searching the forums and the documentation and this is the first mention I've found so far. It seems like it ought to be a property that can be set, but I haven't found it yet.)
