We have just encountered the scary looking context menu (with two columns), and narrow dropdowns for font and size as per the picture at the head of this thread. We have recently upgraded to IE7 (production version) and discovered the problem. Is there a workaround for this yet? It means all our visitors with latest Microsoft browsers are also having the same problem!
Following the thread, it looks like the simple solution is to drop the DTD, if I understand the issue correctly. However, that's no solution for us. We can't drop the DTD declaration, as this would cause a problem for Firefox (and other) browsers with other code on the same page. By the way the DTD we are using is:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
