Have you tried the support feature?
If operator is waitng in the support room, we show the message " Live help is available ".
If operator is not available, we show the message " Live help is not available, please leave a message ".

Yes, the support feature will fit this situation. The chat is the private chat as well.
The operator has his/her own UI to see who are waiting...
