I guess I can understand why you would want to do that for Flash, but this problem is regarding other media content like audio and video.  Is there any way to turn this feature off?

It works fine with Internet Explorer but not with Firefox for some reason.

Here are two media sound clips inserted into the editor.  They are exactly the same file.  One works and one does not.  The top image is the media inserted into Internet Explorer and the bottom is the media inserted into Firefox.  Can you explain why this is happenning?
