I have removed <base ....> line completly from template.aspx but still get the same result - javascript error when I click on the link and target is still reset to _blank everytime "preview" tab is selected. I anticipate that when you introduced the new feature "BaseHref" target is always set to _blank no matter what it is inside template.aspx
