When I assign a value in code: editor1.Text="étude après"
 
the accented characters get converted to escape sequences. This happens  no matter how much I play with cultures and encoding types.

 

I just cannot seem to use this thing for anything but English?

 

It works in this forum so I know it can be done.

Any ideas??
