A notification would be great!

How about creating a "sticky" post (that remains on top) that contain information about the latest release?

Then everyone that wants notification about new versions can click the "notify" button for that thread.

 

What is the difference between updates that affects the version number and the ones that keep the previos version number?
If there are changes to the client files, I would like to see the version number changed. As this indicates that there are more work to be done than just copying the assembly into my project.
