Special accented characters in Cute Chat's Portuguese XML language file

Cute Chat does not seem to run with accented characters in the XML Portuguese language file.

It shows up with a full page with error messages and code...

I am talking about these characters:

ã õ á é í ó ú à è ì ò ù ç Ã Õ Á É Í Ó Í À È Ì Ò Ù Ç

Any resolution for this issue which is important to me since I am evaluating the product and may want to buy it soon.

I tried putting some HTML code for accented characters in the XML file and got this error message when I entered the chat room:

Server Error in '/chat' Application.
