Hi,

I have an interesting problem. I have a very simple demo with the following editor setup:

<CE:EDITOR id="Editor1" RemoveServerNamesFromUrl="false" style="Z-INDEX: 101; LEFT: 16px; POSITION: absolute; TOP: 8px" runat="server" Width="720px">

I want the absolute paths to come through in the html returned to the server.

When I insert an image into the editor and immediately save to HTML, I get the following html back at the server:

Type Here<img height="50" src="/DemoEditor/uploads/aspprologo.gif" width="270" />

However, when I insert an image AND view the HTML (via the HTML button at the botton of the editor) BEFORE saving I get the following HTML back at the server:

Type Here<img height="50" src="http://localhost/DemoEditor/uploads/aspprologo.gif" width="270" />

Why the difference and how can I ensure that I always get the absolute path in the html returned to the server? Is this developer error on my part?

This is an example to test the full path: http://cutesoft.net/example/full_links.aspx

Step 1:

If you want to have a relative path even you set the RemoveServerNamesFromUrl="false":

In the first image, you can change the path to src="/Uploads/j0262681.jpg"

If you want to have a absolute path:

In the second image, you set the path to src="http://cutesoft.net/Uploads/PH02366J.jpg"

Step 2:

Click the submit button.

Yu will find you can get when you need.

Step 3:

Now let's click the HTML button , switch to the source view and switch it back.

After you click the submit button you will get two absolute paths.

Reason: When you switch the view, Internet Explorer converts all URLs in hyperlinks (anchor tags) and images (img tags) to absolute URLs.

Hi Adam:

I was a little confused by your response, I must be missing something. Try the following using your demo:

Open your editor
Select and delete everything
Select/insert the 01.jpg from your image gallery (the clock)
Immediately Submit

You should see the following HTML :

<img height="75" hspace="0" src="/uploads/01.jpg" width="100" />

I would have thought that I should see the http://cutesoft.NET/uploads/01.jpg instead?

The first image gallery always use the relative path.

Let’s try this.

1. Open the second image gallery.

2. Select an image

3. In the URL field, if the path is relative path, after postback, you will get a relative path.

In the URL field, if the path is absolute path, after postback, you will get an absolute path.

This tool is designed for people with no HTML knowledge. What is the point of them having to type it all in? They may as well be using Frontpage.

For the people who understand the URL, using the steps below:

1. Open the second image gallery.

2. Select an image

3. In the URL field, if the path is relative path, after postback, you will get a relative path.
In the URL field, if the path is absolute path, after postback, you will get an absolute path.

For the people who don't understand the URL, please let them use the images dropdown or code snippet dropdown.

Does it make sense?

Hi,

this is a rather old discussion. However, I'm having the same problem as Barnest, being that URL's are supposed to be absolute or relative don't actually turn out that way - unless you view the HTML code before saving OR double click the image to see its proporties. Surely, this must be a bug - but is there any known workaround ?

Are you using an old version of CuteEditor?

Test this example here:

The above example is using the version 5.2.

Hi Adam,

No, I'm afraid it does not make sense.

However, I have a similar problem...

If I insert am image in Normal view I get:

If I insert an image in HTML view, I get:

I want the second version.

How do I make sure I can get the same result in Normal and HTML views?

I have seen the example on:

That seems to work quite well. However, as with most of the examples on this site - there is no code shown.

Why don't you give the code for all of your examples? I'm sure it would save a lot of time and effort on this forum.

Could you let me have the code for this example please?
