problems when adding custom buttons

I needed to add a custom button of my own and some of the functionality of the Editor stopped working when i did so.

When you are using the Css Class and Font drop down lists they automatically change when you select the text within the cute editor.

However when you add a custom button this functionality quits working and it does not automatically change when you make as selection within the document. Anyone else have this issue or knows how to fix it?

Another thing to note is that the editor is dynamically rendered to the page.

heres the code

Dim ctrlImagePicker As System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl

ctrlImagePicker = editor.CreateCommandButton("compassInsertImage", "image.gif", "Image Picker")

ctrlImagePicker.Attributes("onclick") = "OpenImageBank('/imagebank.aspx',this);"

Dim pos As Integer

pos = editor.ToolControls.IndexOf("BoxFormatting") + 1

editor.InsertToolControl(pos, "compassInsertImage", ctrlImagePicker)

I even tried to replace the onclick event on a current button

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Dim ctrl As System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl

ctrl = TheEditor.ToolControls(TheEditor.ToolControls.IndexOf("InsertImage")).Control()

ctrl.Attributes("onclick") = "OpenImageBank('/imagebank.aspx',this);"

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The code worked by replacing the functionality of that button but the dropdown auto selection feature quit working again.

I have tried a couple of different things and i still cannot get it working properly.. Is it a bug or am I able to do it a different way to get the functionality working with the custom buttons.

With these two lines of code

Dim ctrl As System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl
ctrl = TheEditor.ToolControls(TheEditor.ToolControls.IndexOf("ImageGalleryByBrowsing")).Control()

the functionality of the autoselect of the dropdown lists stops working so i think it happens when the System.web.ui.control is casted into a webcontrol.

Input anyone?

David,

Please create a new custom button instead of modify the onclick event of the existing buttons.

Please check the following example (select a few test, then click the custom button. The selection will not lost.)
