Cute editor's setHtml function works after alert

Hi there,

I am sending data to be edited to another where cute editor is residing.

I found that

editorEdit = document.getElementById('<% = Editor_Edit.ClientID%>');

editorEdit.setHTML("hi");

these lines in javasctipt doesn't work it gives "object doesn't support this method error'.

instead when i put

editorEdit = document.getElementById('<% = Editor_Edit.ClientID%>');

alert('hello world');

editorEdit.setHTML("hi");

cute editor works perfectly. How to avoid use of alert?

This funtion should work. Please check the above example.

For your issue, I think you call this funtion when the editor object is not available.

Let us do a test:

Move your code to the bottom of your page then try again.

This time I done following things

while(editorEdit==null || editorEdit.innerHTML.length==0)

                editorEdit = document.getElementById('<%= Editor_Edit.ClientID%>');

               // alert('hi');

editorEdit.setHTML("hi");

I was thinking that it is taking time to load editor control so I put this in while loop, then I called setHTML method.

I kept whole javascript code at the end of the page.

but still problem persist :( . If i remove comment of alert it works fine.

Now I got other way to get the solution.

I used

'CuteEditor_OnInitialized' function which give me object of editor and things work without call of alert function.

Still I am not convinced with this solution where i compel myself to use 'CuteEditor_OnInitialized' method. :(

one thing i would like to know ...who is calling this method ? and shall i override the parameters passed to this function?
