I have tested TinyMCE but I cant get to work as I like.

I therefore consider purchasing the Cute Editor. I have one initial question: I have developed a upload/image function wich I have to use in the application I am currently developing. Can I configure Cute editor to use this function instead of the built in one?

As your said, Cute Editor for PHP is using the PHP built-in upload function.

 

 

If you are familar with PHP, the answer is yes.

 

All you need to do is modifying the existing upload php file.
