Can you just create a virtual directory in your IIS and point it to the location you want? Then set your image gallery path using
app-based path or absolute path ?
2: Programmatically specify the Image gallery path

//use the absolute path
Editor1.Setting["security:ImageGalleryPath"]= "/uploads";
//use the physical path
