Client-Side API

I noticed that many of the solutions described in the forum are accomplished via the client-side Javascript API. I've downloaded the latest version of the editor, but can't find any documentation for this API. Am I overlooking it, or is there no documentation for the client-side calls? Where can I find documentation on the valid parameters for the ExecCommand function? Also, how do I programmatically set the Base HREF for the content displayed in the editor? Thanks for your help...

Thanks for the reply, Adam. First of all, I just want to say that overall I'm really pleased with the product. I'm evaluating it to replace another visual editor that we're using in our custom content management system. One requirement for replacing the current editor with Cute Editor is that I need the ability to set the "base href" programmatically for the contents displayed in the editor when it's in Normal and Preview mode. It doesn't matter to me whether I set this value client-side or server-side as long as I can set it. Is this possible?

Thanks for the kind words about CuteEditor.

There are three methods to set the base href.

1. Locate/open CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/template.aspx

In the template.aspx, add the your base href.

For example:

<base target="_blank" href="someurlhere" />

2. Use the page properties dialog and set the base href

3. Set the base href using the JavaScript. If you do need this function, I will post some script here.

Since I need to set it dynamically, could you please tell me how to set it either in my server-side code when the page loads or via client-side Javascript? Thanks...

Thanks for the code, Adam. This seems to work fine but it's putting the base href in front of the images and links when I flip to HTML view and when I get the editor text in my code-behind page. I've seen some other posts on this issue and thought it was resolved in this latest release. I have both RemoveServerNamesFromUrl and UseRelativeLinks set to True.

Yes, I see the same behavior in IE6. I performed the following steps:

1) Leaving "Use Relative Urls" selected and the Cindy Crawford image in the editor, click the "Page Properties" button.

2) Enter http://sony.com in the "Base location" field. Click OK.

3) Flip to HTML view and you'll notice that the src for the image has been changed to http://sony.com/uploads/Cindy_Crawford.jpg.

4) Clicking submit shows that http://sony.com isn't stripped out on the postback either.

I also noticed that on postback the editor loses my "Base location" setting. Should it have preserved this setting? I also tested the above steps in Firefox 1.0, and the editor would not even keep my base location setting. I appreciate your quick responses on all of these posts.

I think is VERY IMPORTANT to have access to the client side API to achieve the customization of the editor.

PLEASE, when do that information will be available?

In the version 4.5.0.1, the new Editor.BaseHref Property has been introduced. The Editor.BaseHref Property can be used to set or retrieve the baseline URL on which relative links will be based.
