Problem with relative / absolute image-paths

Hello,

I have the following problem.

I am saving the content of the Editor by fetching Editor.text property and inserting into database. I have switched off all relative path propertys in the editor. The absolute paths work fine when opening the content for the second time - but when inserting an image and then saving - only the relative path is saved.

What can I do to avoid this?

Ok, but this doesn't solve my problem. It is the same problem some other users already mentioned. The absolute paths work fine if you switch to html-view but not if you save the page directly. If you save it directly only the relative path is saved!!

Settings are made as in the guide.

I switched that already to false / false. Could you reproduce the behavior I described or not?

Test here: http://cutesoft.net/example/general.aspx

In the URL field, if the path is relative path (../uploads/somepath), after postback, you will get a relative path.

In the URL field, if the path is absolute path, after postback, you will get an absolute path.

I guess you are looking for a method which can automatically convert the relative path to absolute path even when the users type in relative path.

../uploads/somepath >> Http://SomeSiteName/somepath

/uploads/somepath >> Http://SomeSiteName/somepath

Well - OK if I enter a relative path it stays relative. Sounds logical - but

if I click on the insert image button (it doesn't) matter which one I automatically get an relative path. Wenn saving this file directly the path stays relative. When I then reopen the document and save it again the path is converted to an absolute path.

This is strange and what I would need is a function with which I could translate the relative paths already on the first saving to absolute paths. The Editor does that when switching to HTML-View and back. Couldn't this also be done by code?

Adam; did you ever find a solution to this image path issue? I am having the same issues as others that have posted on this subject. I have read all but not seeing a solution. How can the absolute path be saved without saving or switching to html view first? I am working with a DNN newsletter module that also sends the newsletter as an email (with broken images).

This is my code for the control (as suggested in many posts):

<FTB:EDITOR id="txtMessage" UseRelativeLinks=false RemoveServerNamesFromUrl="False" runat="server" Width="720px" Height="500px" EnableStripScriptTags="False">

This doesn't work; as many users state: the newsletter has to be saved or viewed in html mode first before the absolute path gets correctly set. This behavior is not present in the free FTB Editor that is used by DNN.

Open your web.config of your DNN.

And Change the editor setting as followings:

    <add name="CEHtmlEditorProvider"
        type="DotNetNuke.HtmlEditor.CEHtmlEditorProvider, DotNetNuke.CEHtmlEditorProvider"
        providerPath="~\Providers\HtmlEditorProviders\CEHtmlEditorProvider\CuteSoft_Client\CuteEditor\"
        RemoveServerNamesFromUrl="false"
        UseRelativeLinks="false"

......

Please also make sure you are using the latest version of Cute Editor.

Not sure if you remember this or not, but I use DNN 1x and you had to make several tweaks to CE last year (before I purchased) in order to get it to work. So I am not sure if there is a 'latest version' that I can download. Also, in the DNN 1x web.config there is currently no editor settings defined as it was not needed (as is in DNN 3, 4).

For DNN 1.x, I think you need to modify the module directly and add those two properties.

I have already added those 2 properties to the CE control within the module; I'm not sure what you mean by 'add to the module directly' other than adding to the CE control's properties.

Open EditHtml.ascx and change the following code:
