Add a Class to a UL

I am having trouble adding a CSS class to a UL

I created a UL list eg

dgddsad
dsadasd
dsadsad
dasdad

html
<ul>
 <li>dgddsad</li>
 <li>dsadasd</li>
 <li>dsadsad</li>
 <li>dasdad</li>
</ul>

and highlighted the entire list and choose the Class that i wanted to apply to the UL.

But instead of applying the class to the UL an additional LI had been created and a span placed inside with the class. e.g.

dgddsad
dsadasd
dsadsad
dasdad

html

<ul>
 <li> </li>
 <li>dgddsad</li>
 <li>dsadasd</li>
 <li>dsadsad</li>
 <li>dasdad </li>
 </ul>

I know that I could manually add the class the UL but my clients are not computer savy and they will only want to apply the class using the drop down and not get involved with this level of detail.

so my question is:

How do I apply a Class to a UL?

Hi Adam;

This isn't what i was hoping for, I was hoping that when I highlighted the list and applied a CssClass then the class would be applied to the UL

Here is the html result when I tried to apply a cssClass from the drop down menu onto the highlighted bullet list

<ul>
 <li></li>
 
 <li>dgddsad</li>
 <li>dsadasd</li>
 <li>dsadsad</li>
 <li>dasdad</li>

</ul>

First off this added an extra LI and secondly the class was not applied to the UL

What I was hoping for is

<li>dgddsad</li>
 <li>dsadasd</li>
 <li>dsadsad</li>
 <li>dasdad</li>

</ul>

This will allow my clients to have multiple pre-defined bullet lists in which they will just choose from the cssClass drop down menu.

If you want to change the class of tag, please use the style builder.

Hi Adam;

I got the same result only when I highlighted each line seperately and applied the cssClass from the drop down menu. but what I was hoping for was to apply a class to the UL tag.

My clients do not want their employees to have the ability to use the style builder as this gives them more flexibility to change the style of their website in which they don't want them to.

Sorry for being a pain, but is it likely that if I highlighted the entire List and tried to apply a class that this would be applied to the UL tag

Hi Adam;

i'd thought I come back and ask this question about if I select all of the UL that I can apply a Class to the UL tag using the Css Class drop down list.

Also if I went down the style builder root can I change the CSS Class text box that is in the general tab to be that of the list which has been applied into the Css Class drop down list within the main cute editor page.
