    Question about an IP license

We've purchased an IP license for our production web server.  This server hosts multiple domains.  One problem is that when you install the editor it locks the program into one IP address.  This is ok for most of our sites, however whenever we have one that uses SSL we need to give it a dedicated IP address.  Is there something we need to do to allow this to work?

Re: an IP license enables the IP@ for both http:// and https://

    Hi Karen,

I read the License info when purchasing it and it says

"An IP license grants you use the control from all Web applications on a single production server.

You can drop the controls into one production server's global assembly cache and use it from all Web applications on that server."

Nowhere does it mention a single IP@ ...

Karen are you a Cutesoft rep?  If not could a CuteSoft rep please reply to this thread as we need this sorted out soon.  We purchased this license to run it on a single server, however we have some sites that need to use a specific IP@ for their SSL cert.

Re: You will submit an IP@ to generate your license

    Hi Karen,

Thanks for the response but this hasn't answered my question.

The license information states "An IP license grants you use the control from all Web applications on a single production server.
You can drop the controls into one production server's global assembly cache and use it from all Web applications on that server."

It doesn't specify anywhere that it runs for 1 specific IP@ - its says "single production server" which is what we're running it on.  The server has multiple IP@ available for use with SSL where needed.

Re: an IP license enables the IP@ for both http:// and https://

I have a web server which because of SSL has several IP's. I too misread the specs.
Because others have had the same issue, what is Cutesoft doing to address the problems.
You have policy which confuses consumers.

I would like to hear from other customers on how you would like to approach Cutesoft on this issues.
I too am a business man out to make a profit, but not when there is the appearance of
    the integrity of my business.

Re: an IP license enables the IP@ for both http:// and https://

    Karen,

I wanted to provide a means for all of my customers to go to mycontrolpanel.customer-domain-name.com and edit their source files. When your description includes “Can be placed in GAC [.NET version] and used in all applications” , the implication is that the editor is good for the whole server.  Now,  everyone will have to use  customer-domain-name.primary-server-domain.com/mycontrolpanel (on my primary IP) unless I  change the structure of my server. I’m sure many of your customers share the same business scenario as myself:  a single web server hosting SSL-enabled e-commerce web site with separate IP’s.

From reading posts here and from other sources, you have been aware that the product description has been the source of confusion for a long time.  So when your canned replies include “..u need to buy more licenses..”, it looks as if you are trapping customers into buying more licenses.

All this said,  you have a very good product.    I think you should pay more attention to practical business scenarios.

    Thanks
