I finally found some time to try the instructions that you referenced.  But, this does not appear to help.

The person responsible for integrating CuteEditor 2.0 into our instance of DNN suggested that I move the CuteSoft_Client folder and its contents outside of the controls folder (i.e. http://{our site}/{our application}/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/) and updating our Portals table so that the PortalAlias also referenced this folder.  This appeared to have helped in that the textbox itself is now usable (i.e. I can type, copy, cut, and paste text).  However, the images to the buttons appear as broken links.  I can confirm that the buttons themselves perform as expected.  Below is the editor that currently appears.
