Ok - thank you.  I actually got clarification and 5k - 20k would be the numbers for "active chatees" - so it looks like this will work. 

 

Does this app sotre all active chats in the DB?   Do you have architecture recomendations?

I'm assumingou need the same sql server per chat room.  If you had multiple rooms you could split them up per sql servers?
