    Messenger 5 - Load Balancer

    Hi,
I read that web messenger 4 is not compatible with a web farm environment.
Is web messenger 5 compatible with a web farm?

Specifically, we have two Windows 2008 servers, an SQL 2008 database, and a load balancer.

Also, our web farm is for a single website... Which license would I need?

    Thanks for your help,
    Joe

Re: Messenger 5 - Load Balancer

    Dear jhakooz,

Cute Messenger 5  is compatible with a web farm, deployment steps can be found at url  http://cutesoft.net/ASP.NET+Chat/Developer-Guide/scr/Load-Balancing.htm .
To deploy Cute Chat and Web messenger in a clustered environment, you need to have a separate server which is running in single-process mode. This server will be used as the chat server which will handle all chat requests. All servers participate in load balancing will pass the chat requests to this single server.
For each domain/subdomain name in web farm, one domain license cover it.

    Regards,
    Eric

Re: Messenger 5 - Load Balancer

    Thanks Eric.

Just to clarify... The Cutesoft Developer's Guide (http://cutesoft.net/ASP.NET+Chat/Developer-Guide/scr/Load-Balancing.htm) says...

"To deploy Cute Chat and Web messenger in a clustered environment, you need to have a separate server which is running in single-process mode. This server will be used as the chat server which will handle all chat requests. All servers participate in load balancing will pass the chat requests to this single server."

Since only one of my two servers will "handle all chat requests", do I only need one license? Or do I need a second license for the server that will "pass the chat requests to the single server"?

Please let me know if I need to provide more info.
    Thanks

Re: Messenger 5 - Load Balancer

Thanks again Eric for your fast response!

    Last 2 questions, I hope...
    1. I will need to integrade messenger with my ASP.NET User Memebership and Profile database.
Do I need the source code to do that? Which license do I need for that?

    2. If I wanted to skin messenger, do I need the source code and which license would I need?

As mentioned, I will only use messenger for a single domain/website.
    Thanks
