    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    The above solution works for IE browser, with the proviso that the editor is not as wide as I'd like, and I can't get it any wider.

    Some members using firefox report a very short window (less than one line of text in height) as shown below:

    any ideas on either of these issues?

    Hi RichP714,

    Try the setting below

     _editor.Width = Unit.Pixel(720);
     _editor.Height = Unit.Pixel(400);

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    Well, it broke again.  I was so pleased with the quick response to a solution to integrate with yetanotherforum that I wanted to make a donation; then I though "why not purchase another license for my other domain?"

    I have a 'test' forum up at carvermk2.com/yetanotherforum

    This forum is where I make changes to the forum software/asp pages, etc until they're working as I want them, then I post those changes to the actual forum at thecarversite.com/yetanotherforum.  I didn't have CE on this site, since it's not 'live' (just for testing the forum software)

    Well, I went ahead and purchased another license (for carvermk2.com) and coincidentally, the same day, CE stopped working at thecarversite.com (it works fine on carvermk2.com).

    It was working in YAF 1.9.4 as per instructions above.  Then, the editor page would load a window, the toobar would load, but the text would NOT post.  the page would eventually timeout (sometimes a failed to load menus' dialog box pops up)

    I found that, while this is going on, if I open a command prompt and ping thecarversite.com it timeouts for a few minutes.

    I've reverted to YAF's standard (and ugly compared to CE) editor, and all is well with the forum again.

    Is this a license conflict between my two domains, or is that just a coincidance and Godaddy has changed something?  (they claim nothing has changed).

    Hi RichP714,

    Please use the below package to test your new site. It contains a trial license, so just use it for test.

    If you still get this issue after use the package above, please send me your test site url and show me the steps to reproduce the issue.

    I will check it and get back to you as soon as possible.

    Please send all information to Kenneth@Cutesoft.net

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    I haven't tried your trial license suggestion yet (the forum has been down since the 5th, and I just got it back up today by reverting to built in edcitor (no CE) so I don't want to bring the forum up/down while members are using it (they're getting testy)

    I DO have test pages up at:

    the test forum (newest license, CE working)

    and

    the live forum (older license, CE not working)

    I have no idea whether its a license issue or not, only that the live site WAS working until I bought the license for the test site.

    I'm going to try, tomorrow, to get the test site to be INOP (by seeking differences in config between working and non).  If I don't succeed, is there a way to send you my user and pass so you can tinker?

    I know this is a weird issue, and GoDaddy claims there have been no changes on their end.  If it's not a license issue (I now have two licenses for two domains, but both were bought from my same email address) and it's not GoDaddy changes, then there MUST be a difference in config between my two domains........

    thanks for your attention, I'll update tomorrow.

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    well, BOTH sites are working now, with no changes on my part.

    GoDaddy says there was no problem, but I suspect they looked into the server log and either restarted a process or similar......

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    I upgraded yetanotherforum to version 1.9.4 RC2, and it seems to have broken CuteEditor again.

    The YAF developers say the 'plug in' implementation (posted above, no recompile needed, just add a .cs file) should still work.

    What happens......

    in YAF: trying to create a post (either new topic or reply) yields an empty editor window.  It LOOKS like it's trying to populate, but the area is blank, I can't type in it, and there's no toolbar.  Also, the 'normal', 'html' and 'preview' buttons at the bottom of the frame don't show (just red X's)

    I tried a demo test page (called cutetest.aspx, I've used it before to verify if CE was working outside of YAF) and get the same behavior.

    Did I break something?

    Right click > Properties on the red X's say:

    for the 'normal' button, for example.  The files are there (in subfolder of YAF, ~/Cutesoft_Client/CuteEditor/ and sub-folders

    test page is at:

    attached
    1 normal behavior (YAF 1.9.4 RC1)
    2 broken CE window (YAF 1.9.4 RC2)
    3. broken test page

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    Disregard; I had two CE folders, one for 63 and one for 66; I'd Published the 66 folder, but somehow it contained the 63 files, so load.ashx was trying to load the 63 dll.

    I got it sorted; sorry for the interruption

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    I've been running the add-on editor CuteEditor for a couple of years now. I'm having trouble getting it operable in 1.9.5.5.

    Currently running 1.9.4 final, with /App_Code/YAF/Editors folder content:

    file name is CuteEditor.cs
    namespace YAF.Editors
    {
    using System;
    using System.Reflection;
    using System.Web.UI.WebControls;
    using System.Web.UI;
    using YAF.Core;

    public class CuteEditor1 : RichClassEditor, INamingContainer
    {

    CuteEditor.Editor _editor = new CuteEditor.Editor();

    public CuteEditor1()
    {

    }
    protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e)
    {
    _editor.ID = "CE";
    _editor.Width = Unit.Pixel(800);
    _editor.Height = Unit.Pixel(325);
    this.Controls.Add(_editor);
    base.OnInit(e);
    }
    public override bool Active
    {
    get
    {
    return true;
    }
    }
    public override int ModuleId
    {
    get
    {
    return 9;
    }
    }
    public override string Description
    {
    get
    {
    return "CuteEditor Editor(HTML)";
    }
    }
    public override string Text
    {
    get
    {
    return _editor.Text;
    }
    set
    {
    _editor.Text = value;
    }
    }
    }
    }

    which works fine under YAF 1.9.4
    with 1.9.5.5 I get the following error.

    Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.

    and no longer get any errors, but CuteEditor is still not listed as a choice when trying to change editors under host>host administration>host settings>editors

    Can you please explain what I need to do to get back CE functionality?

    Hi RichP714,

    Please download the source code project of YAF1.9.5.5 and create a file name "CuteEditor.cs"  under "YAF1.9.5.5source\YetAnotherForum.NET\Classes\Editors\CuteEditor.cs" and than re-build the project to try again. It works fine for me.

    There are some feature of YAF1.9.5.5 install version cause CuteEditor does not show in the editor list.  So I suggest you use the source code project.

    The code of "CuteEditor.cs"

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    I  have a new installation of Yetanotherforum (Ver 1.9.6.1) and tried the most recent solution shown in this thread for ver 1.9.5.5, but had no luck getting CE to show in the Editor choices window of YAF.  Did I do something wrong, or is there yet still another issue with the newer version of YAF yet to be resolved for CE to work?

    Hi Russkall,

    I have tryied on YAF1.9.6.1 with the code above, it works find for me. The image I attached shows how it looks like. Note that, you need to use the  source code solution not the Intall solution. The second one is the source code package.

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    Russkall,

    What I mean is you need to build the source code YetAnotherForum project with the file YAF1.9.5.5source\YetAnotherForum.NET\Classes\Editors\CuteEditor.cs, then re-deploy the whole site again. Can not just copy/paste the new file to achieve it.

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    Ken,

    Now I am really confused... First, I never did a build to install the YAF software, that I am aware of... Second, I am running the lastest version 1.9.6.1, so you are saying I need to go backwards in version levels to make this work?

    Your cute editor worked fine when I added it on a page, just can't get it "into" the application core.    Is it possible that can call you and discuss this so I can understand?   Right now, it sounds like you want me to blow away my "site" and start again with yours... I really hope that is not correct.

    Is there a good time when I could call you?

    Re: Installing CuteEditor 6.3 in Forum YetAnotherForum

    Hi Russkall,

    The Yaf does not provide the way to install plugin and extensions. So can not just put the file or some code into your current site ot makes the CuteEditor shows in the editor list. To change that layout you must change the source code of the yaf project directly and re-build it again. It due to the yaf limitation.

    You are using the yaf install package not the source code project package, so the only way to achieve it is remove the old site, download the source code project and re-build it with the code I provided, then re-deploy all site files again. I know it is not a good way to you, but this is the only way to add the new editor into yaf editor layout section.

    Regards,

    Ken
