Not able to edit content in text area and receiving bizarre error...

Not able to edit content in text area and receiving bizarre error...

I am a paying customer and have version 5.3 installed on my clients site.  The editor works fine for me in IE however they have reported that they cannot edit the content with IE 6.  Oddly enough I can only replicate the issue in Firefox.  When in Firefox, I have been able to update successfully once, but when the page refreshes the changes are there but none of the content is editable.  When I select 'Normal' instead of the default 'Paragraph' in the drop down menu I get the bizarre error:

    Command [FormatBlock] is not supported!

Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)
    [nsIDOMNSHTMLDocument.execCommand]

Any help you can provide is extremely appreciated as my client is waiting for final delivery.  Please let me know if you need any additional details.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Re: Not able to edit content in text area and receiving bizarre error...

I'm seeing the same problem in Firefox.  I enter edit mode in my application in which cute editor is displayed.  I update my content.  I then save it.  I go back into edit mode with cute editor displayed and I can't backspace to delete text in the textarea of CuteEditor.

However, I discovered that if I type something first, any character, then it unfreezes and I can add and delete text at will and the changes all take effect.

    Any idea what's going on?

Re: Not able to edit content in text area and receiving bizarre error...

I run into this same problem as WaterStreet said above.

Using FireFox, you can reproduce the problem at the CuteEditor for .NET demo page:
    http://cutesoft.net/example/general.aspx

Just click in the text input area and hit Backspace. It won't delete any character.

Strangely, I can't reproduce this problem with the CuteEditor for ASP demo page:

We have noticed exactly the same kind of problem... Any idea if it's a known bug (i.e. reported)?

Re: Not able to edit content in text area and receiving bizarre error...

    Hello All,

I am an in a similar position but the user environment is a bit different.
    Cute Editor: 5.3
    Platform: Mac
    Browser: Firefox - latest version

When a client creates a new session and logs in to use the editor for the first time in that session. The editor behaves exactly as expected. For every other attempt in that session. The following problem occurs:

    Command [FormatBlock] is not supported!
Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)
    [nsIDOMNSHTMLDocument.execCommand]

or "whatever command was selected". Also user cannot edit any of the content inside the text editor. If the user restarts the session (new instance of a browser) logs in; they can complete an editing task just once. For every other attempt in the session the tool disables with the behavior I described above.

I can't replicate the error on the example page as specified by Adam. I have loaded the latest version of the tool (except for config files) and the issue is persisting.

    Thanks,
    redengine

    redengine,

If you can't reproduce this problem in the demo page, can you create a simple aspx file which contains the CuteEditor only and test again?

If it works, then add other controls one by one. So it may help us figure out what causes the problem.

OK I have upgraded to FireFox 1.5 to see if the error still occurs

And it does not happen with 1.5 so it looks like its an older version problem.

Re: Not able to edit content in text area and receiving bizarre error...

I can reproduce the error in the demo page.  I edited the page. Submitted the content. hit the back button and tried to edit the content again but it was read only and there were errors on commands.
