Retrieving the full path of the original file.

I am currently evaluating Ajax Uploader and so far so good.

Is it possible to retrieve the full path of the file being uploaded from the client e.g. c:\users\ron\documents\file.doc?

    Many thanks

    Ron

Re: Retrieving the full path of the original file.

    Hi,

It's not available for all cases.

Only In IFrame mode, the value of <input type=file> may be a full path .

So the uploader do not provide this feature.

Re: Retrieving the full path of the original file.

    Hi,
We would be interested in having the possibility to get the original full path of the files uploaded when using Flash mode.
I know it's not possible at present time, but do you think it is a feature you will implement in the future?
Is not it even possible to get the original full path from client script, before the files are actually sent to the server?
    thanks in advanced

Hi Terry, thanks for you fast answer.
As an alternative, is there a way to forbid picking files from different folder? I searched in the online documentation but I did not find anything about it.
    Thanks in advanced

    Pierre,

We still not able to implement that for all cases.

Do you want to make sure the customer selected the right file ?

Re: Retrieving the full path of the original file.

No, we don't want to make sure the customer selected the right file...
Actually, when the user upload more than one file at once, we need to to know how they are organized in the original file system, because then we apply some process to the uploaded files, which logic is based on their relative path between each others.
Since it is not possible to know the original path of the files uploaded, we must ensure that all the files uploaded at once are originately located in the same folder.

    Hi vishalamca,

For now, AjaxUploader does not support this feature. Sorry for your inconvenience.
