Highlighting and retyping text

When I highlight and retype text its wrap additional tags around my text. When I select text with my mouse and retype, div tags are added. When I select text by ctrl-a and retype, p tags are added. Is there any way to turn that off so no tags get added unless I hit the Enter key? Thanks.

Thanks for the response, Adam. I was able to reproduce the issue by using Ctrl-A and just retyping something. When I view the HTML tab, whatever I typed in gets surrounded by tags.
