I'm running version 3.x. I'd like to force users to login to chat but allow them to view the chat if they don't. Is this possible with version 3.x or even with the more recent 5.x?

In version 5.0, the admin or moderator of the chat room can set chatter's role to "silence". Those chatters can only view the conversations but cannot participate in the chat.

That means a user still has to login first and then get set to silence, right? It's not possible to just let the chat be viewed without going through those steps?
