When you enable the online image editor it pulls images from the symbols folder and places them on the right side of the editor.  Can I turn that off or modify where it pulls the images from?

You can't turn this feature off.

The symbol path can't be modified in the current version.

We will resolve it when we rewrite the online image editor.
